AGP’s journey started in the city of Berlin about a century ago when the Mannheim family opened their first glass company.
A few years later, the Mannheim family decided to migrate to South America to search for new business opportunities. W. Mannheim started developing their very own and original laminated glass and mirror lines as the main assets of their business.

Peru experiences a booming automotive market with more than 10 OEMs’ manufacturing plants, and a construction industry that required a high-quality glass producer.
With the opportunity of a growing market and the family’s knowhow, J. Mannheim founds Autoglass Peruana in Lima, Peru. This company planted the seed for what would become AGP Group, one of the most innovative companies with the highest quality standards in the automotive glazing industry.

AGP exports more than 50% of its production out of South America continuing the vision of becoming the leading player in the global automotive glazing industry.

AGP obtains its first patent for the production of Bullet Resistant Glass (BRG), the first of a series of patents and products that differentiate AGP from its competitors to this date.
Additionally, AGP is certified in various international standards related to their BRG products.

AGP equips the “Popemobile” with armored glass for the visit of Pope John Paul II to South America.

AGP goes international with the opening of its first commercial unit in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA.

AGP openes its second manufacturing facility in Bogota, Colombia.
The AGP Group acquires a facility in Colombia that produces laminated replacement glass for the automotive market and reengineers it to produce automotive bullet-resistant glass as its main business line.

AGP enters the Asian market through its new business alliance with the Japanese company, North Glass.

Incorporates an AGP Europe commercial unit in Germany.
AGP Brazil grows significantly and builds a new manufacturing plant, making it the third production facility in the AGP Group. Since then, this plant has predominantly supplied the Brazilian local market as well as other southern cone markets and supported many key OEM projects in Europe.
Two years later, the Brazilian facility produced 8,950 sets of military vehicles for the U.S. army, for use in conflicts in the Middle East.
To date, the Brazilian plant has grown to become the largest automotive BRG plant in the world.

AGP develops the first panoramic windshield in the world integrating the glass up to the vehicle’s roof resulting in a sophisticated product with very demanding optics and geometric specifications.

AGP wins important armored glass programs with top automakers for series production and consolidates as the main BRG supplier for multiple OEMs brands around the world.

AGP developes its TNT Plus line, a fastening system to prevent the armored glass from detaching against bombs or attacks.
In addition, AGP introduces its Premium line of safety glazing products increasing its portfolio of durable, high quality products for customers around the globe.

In 2010 AGP B.33 launches in Brazil, with great success. A Bullet Resistant Glass with excellent performance in terms of optimized weight and thickness, while maintaining its Ballistic protection.
With approximately 20 to 30% reduction in these variables, AGP B33 quickly becomes the market reference for high end bullet resistant glass and has set a new standard for the category.

AGP creates AGP Defense, its second division, to meet with the demands of armed forces, government agencies and corporate clients.

AGP BRG market share reaches 38%, we can proudly state that at least 1 out of 3 armored vehicles feature AGP’s transparent solutions.
